During an interview with People magazine, Neil Patrick Harris found himself in a familiar place that many new parents (especially those of twins) find themselves in while trying to explain their new additions: elated discombobulation!
The 37-year-old Harris, and his partner of more than 7 years, actor David Burtka became the proud parents of fraternal twins Harper Grace and Gideon Scott on October 12th, via a surrogate (as Harris explains to People, "We inserted two eggs, one with my sperm, one with David's sperm and they both took.")
Burtka, 35, recalled holding their children just moments after their birth, describing the moment as "just absolute joy," adding, "We had two babies that we made. With help." Still, the dads are trying to get a hold of the life-altering experience.
"Harper has been fussy but Gideon is the easiest baby in the world," Burtka reveals. "They're just now starting to recognize us and smile."
The How I Met Your Mother star, who recently moved his brood to a more "kid-friendly" home in the Hollywood Hills, talked about his new role explaining, "Everyone says that it's such a blur after it happens. I find myself constantly just trying to wrap my mind around it."
Still, he's found happiness in the little things with his new bundles of joy, joking, "I just love the way they smell. And we can use them as an excuse to get out of almost anything. That's cleared the calendar in a good way."
