After eight years of an on-again off-again relationship, new reports say that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be walking down the aisle next year.
According to Us Weekly, multiple sources have confirmed that a royal wedding is definitely in the works for the heir to the British throne and his girlfriend, both 28.
"The engagement will be announced in 2011," an insider told the mag.
Though the couple split twice over the course of their relationship, Katie Nichol, author of "William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls," said that the prince and Middleton have known they were going to end up together for years. Nichols even claims that the couple made a secret pact to marry three years ago while on vacation in the Seychelles. "Kate wanted assurances from William," she said.
"William told Kate she was 'the one,' but he was not ready to get married," the source said. "She...agreed to wait for him."
Adds another insider: "He wants to spend the rest of his life with her."
In September, the UK's Daily Mail insisted that a wedding date has been set for next August, which a spokesperson for William's official residence, Clarence House, called "wide off the mark."
